Better movements through better service

Balance, Mainspring, Bridge & Stem is an independent watchmaking practice founded on a simple conviction: that every mechanical watch deserves the same precision in its care as went into its creation. Every movement that passes through this bench is treated as the engineering achievement it is, regardless of origin or current condition.

Our work is performed under magnification, our results are confirmed and regulated on a timegrapher, and we provide you with real-time visual and written documentation throughout the service process. In a full service, all parts are cleaned ultrasonically, lubricated with genuine Moebius greases and oils, and we consider a service complete only when watches meet their original performance envelope.

How a service unfolds

Step 01
Consultation

Describe your piece and your concerns; we'll confirm whether we're a good fit and outline what the service will involve before anything is agreed to.

Step 02
Intake & Assessment

We perform initial timing and condition checks, along with cosmetic photography. A written condition report is issued for approval before any work begins.

Step 03
Service Walkthrough

We provide a detailed walkthrough of the planned service, including a breakdown of the work to be done and any potential risks.

Step 04
Service Execution

We execute the agreed upon service, ensuring that you are kept updated and informed throughout the process.

Step 05
Timing & Return

Timegrapher verification is performed across multiple standard positions. A water resistance test is performed when applicable. Upon completion, we return the watch with all documentation.

Send your watch to good hands

All excellent service begins with a conversation. Tell us what you have and what concerns you; we'll follow up with an honest assessment and a plan for getting your watch back to prime condition. If a piece falls outside what we can responsibly service, we'll say so plainly, and help you explore other options to get you up and running.
